About AJ2028

THE 27TH AUSTRALIAN JAMBOREE

Held once every three years, the Australian Jamboree is the largest gathering of Scouts in the country. AJ2028 brings together more than 10,000 youth members and adult volunteers at Elmore, Victoria for ten days of adventure, culture and connection.

Who can go?

ELIGIBILITY

AJ2028 is a whole-of-Scouting event, for youth members and the adults who lead and support them. Choose your section below for the full eligibility requirements. Every application is made through your home Branch Contingent.

Applies to everyone

These conditions apply to everyone attending AJ2028, on top of the requirements for your section below.

  • All applicants must apply through, and be part of, their home Branch Contingent, and pay the applicable Contingent fee.
  • The applicant's Group Leader, Team Leader or responsible Commissioner must recommend the applicant as a suitable member of their Branch Contingent.
  • Acceptance of the online application confirms compliance with all applicable requirements.
  • The Contingent reserves the right to refuse any application, in which case a full refund will be made.
  • Applicants must agree to comply with all government requirements, directions, orders and regulations relevant to attending AJ2028, including any vaccination requirements that may be in place at the time of the event.

Requirements by section

Participants

Scouts

Scouts attend AJ2028 as participants, joining a Patrol for the full ten-day program. To be eligible, a Scout must meet all of the following.

  • Must be a current registered youth member in the Scout Section at the time of application and through until at least the conclusion of the Jamboree on January 7, 2028.
  • Must, by December 1, 2027, have completed or be working towards a Milestone in the Scout Section, and have completed Stage 3 in each of the Bushcraft, Bushwalking and Camping Outdoor Adventure Skills.
  • Must have completed 10 nights camping in the outdoors with their Unit or Patrol in the Scout Section. Three of those nights must be consecutive. Camping with family or school does not count towards the 10 nights.
  • Must have approval from the Unit Council and Group Leader.
  • Must have consent from their parent or guardian.
  • Must be considered by their parent or guardian and Unit Council to be of sufficient maturity and good behaviour to participate successfully in the Jamboree.

This is a general guide to AJ2028 eligibility. Individual Contingents (state and territory teams) may set additional requirements or selection processes on top of the above, so check with your own Contingent for details.

LOCATION

AJ2028 will be held at the Elmore Events Centre in Elmore, Victoria, a purpose-built event site north of Bendigo with the space and facilities to host thousands of Scouts.
